The 2016 BAFTAs: Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, Julianne Moore, and more
Chilly weather didn’t keep the stars from making fashionable red carpet entrances at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTAs) awards, even when it meant braving the temps in sleeveless gowns or covering with long sleeves or a stylish cape. (Ahem, Julianne Moore!) This time around, many of the stars traded in over-the-top dresses for slim-cut solid-color numbers, although some of the stars did go out on a limb. Let’s check out the trends at this year’s BAFTAs.
Feathers and Textures
Who knew feathers were coming back into fashion? Apparently stars like Cate Blanchett and Laura Haddock…who both wore them brilliantly.
This was by far my favorite dresses of the night. White and slinky and see-through but still covered up thanks to the gorgeous texture. Olga Kurylenko sparkled like a diamond.
Rooney Mara seems to have a penchant for clothing that washes her put and makes her look a bit Goth, but at least it’s a signature look.
Alicia Vikander‘s Louis Vuitton number was definitely the talk of the night.
Gorgeous dress but Saoirse Ronan could have done without the necklace.
Thoughts on this outrageous rainbow-colored number worn by Bel Powley?
Solid Colors
Interesting how basic Kate Winslet‘s dress could have been…until you see the asymmetrical top half.
Even lovelier than the dress on its own…the cape Julianne Moore wore as part of her Armani halter gown on the red carpet.
Isla Fisher looks flawless. At least her hair and makeup do. I would have preferred this gown in a color other than white, but the cut and fit are perfection.
The color is gorgeous on Angela Bassett! Does this woman ever age?
I feel like I’ve seen Dakota Johnson wear this before…
Am I the only one who loves Emilia Clarke as a blonde? 😉
