The 2009 Council of Fashion Awards brought out some heavy fashion hitters last night, but it wasn't the stylists themselves that got the people talking. It was, of course, the stars!
But while many surprised in wonderful, but risk-taking get-ups, which actually looked–well, pretty decent, a few looked like they just couldn't get it right.
In true Marc Jacobs runway fashion (remember the Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear show?) we're going to go backwards this time…and check out who couldn't make the cut before we check out who shined in the style department because–well–because it's always fun to see who flopped before the flaunt.
YES! I LOOK FORWARD TO #GROWINGYOUNGER

We all knew this was a no-no from the start. The dress is waaay too big on top and if she wanted to do the sharp shoulders trend, she should have gone with a leather jacket a la Victoria Beckham. And here I thought Mary-Kate wore the fashion faux pas…
This actress look like she's going out to a dinner with friends in NY, not to one of the biggest fashion events of the year. And she also looks like she tried too hard and couldn't get it right…that bow belt at the waist doesn't pull the look together.
If Grace Gummer's going to a dinner with friends, then Vera's going clubbing! Guess she never got past her youth.
We've seen Michelle look a hell of a lot better! Is it possible for an above-the-knee pencil skirt to gather and fit too tightly making her legs look chunky. The bustier look like half a seashell and is cinched in the wrong place.
Well, she does't exactly look good…but hey, she's Betsey! She's a brand! And she always pulls off the character.
Strangely cut at the collar, weird asymmetrical draping…Rachel Zoe's always one to make a statement but this just says no, no, no all over! And the color isn't even that nice…
Daphne Guinness and Proenza Schouler
The two designers didn't exactly dress her too well. What is that weird, too tight cummerbund in the middle? And purple Mary-Janes? Come on!
I like the texture of the skirt. This would have been OK, if she didn't have a lumberjack in her sleeves.
Married life doesn't really seem to do it for Jack White in the fashion department. Neither does holding hands with fashion designer Anna Sui…
Time for the the annual high school dance…
Padma's a drag…
Strangely cut on top with a bulky bottom. Rachel Zoe can't pull off the collar and you can't either.
I don't know if they're going to an Israeli wedding or to battle in the Revolutionary War.
