74th Annual Golden Globe Awards Fashion: Emma Stone, Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon

On the one hand, there were a ton of glam gowns at the 74th Annual Golden Globes. So much so that I actually felt that Old Hollywood was coming back into fashion. On the other hand, stars like Sophie Turner, Jessica Biel, and Nicole Kidman wore WTF dresses from big name designers like Louis Vuitton, Elie Saab, and Alexander McQueen, that it really made me wonder, “Is this really where fashion is going?”

Celebrity Style: The Fashionable Women of the 2017 Pirelli Calendar

The Pirelli Calendar 2017 stood out this year as it does every year. But beyond photographer Peter Lindbergh’s message to “have the guts to be yourself” was the fact that he conveyed this message using mainly models/celebs in their late 30s and 40s. Models like Uma Thurman and Penelope Cruz were photographed in black and white in all their bare faced glory. And the ones who surprised because their fashion game was not. Kerry Washington is a gorgeous pregnant lady but her Elie Saab design left something to be desired.

When former Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere took the helm at Louis Vuitton, leaving Marc Jacobs to concentrate on his namesake label, I worried this new direction would mean more monogram prints and less color for the brand. I was pleasantly surprised when it actually meant brighter shades and bolder looks. Don’t get me wrong, I like what Marc Jacobs did, (remember the Spring 2012 runway?) but there was something very young about his designs that didn’t happen this time around with Ghesquiere – even with all the neon hues and superhero themes
