Chicago Shopping. Suno [KANGAS] into Ikram

Max O Suno 1 Textile entrepreneur, film maker, and now fashion designer Max Osterweis is a new comer to watch out for in the ethnic fashion niche. Osterweis presents Suno!

Suno is a beautifully designed and crafted collection of womenswear that has found it's way to our [Chicago's] own Gold Coast neighborhood at Ikram Boutique.

Not only is Suno an exotic compilation of practical everyday wear for women, but each piece comes from East Africa, offering a unique story behind it's design.

Osterweis has been collecting Kangas for decades. Kangas are typically brightly colored, large cloths that the women of East Africa wear for years to cover themselves. He purchased them from families willing to sell, and just a few months ago, decided to create a collection with them.

1,000 articles of clothing have been released for the Spring '09 line.
