Filmmaker Martin Bell and photographer Mary Ellen Mark are launching a Kickstarter campaign on Wednesday, November 20th thru Friday, December 20th to fund a film, Tiny Revisited.  The motion picture will capture today’s life and journey of Tiny, the Streetwise star from the 1984 Academy Award-nominated documentary that exposed the loneliness and dangers of teenage homelessness and sexual exploitation. Tiny, a teenage prostitute instantly became a cult figure, and as a result was offered several opportunities to escape her street life, but as destiny would play out she remained in Seattle.
Thirty years has passed since Martin’s original film Streetwise. Over the years, he and Mary Ellen have remained close to Tiny, photographing and filming several milestones and great events in her life. A lot has changed for Tiny since her teenage years of prostitution and drug abuse. She is now a wife and mother of ten ages 5-27. Although she no longer lives a street life, daily she continues to encounter internal and external struggles, battling the results of bad life decisions, but somehow finds the strength to press on.
