Shoe Trend To Wear Now And Later: Elevated Loafers

I don’t know about where you live but here in New York we are having the craziest winter! One day there is a foot of snow on the ground and the next it has all melted and it’s nearly 60 degrees! Those rare warmer days I take full advantage of wearing shoes that don’t require socks and one trend that’s hot for Spring ’17, but you can dabble in now (especially if you already live in warmer climates) are elevated loafers.

What does elevated loafers mean you might be thinking? Well to me it means two things; they could literally be elevated (as in a stacked heel), or they could be flat but embellished and/or color-blocked. Or they could be a combination of all mentioned. Either way they are the “next level” of loafers. Gucci has probably the widest and coolest collection I have seen. They have a stacked heel, are embellished beyond belief and are very retro 60’s cool. That said, there are also a ton of options that come in at a lot less coin than Gucci should you not want to spend that much. I found quite a few stunning pairs of similar loafers at ASOS for under $100.

If you prefer flat loafers you can pull those off just was easily. Look for fun details like crystal embellishments, funky heels (Nickolas Kirkwood pearl heels make me swoon) or more simple color blocking. Loafers look fabulous with the pleated skirt trend I shared recently as well as with jeans and your favorite black pants. To be frank they are the perfect shoe for just about everything. Any way you choose to wear them you simply need a pair or two of elevated loafers…right now.
