1. Tell us about Siahou.
SIAHOU is modern, sophisticated, and has a European edge. I use luxury fabrics like silk and cashmere and add gathers, ruffles, and pleating so each piece is special. Everything can be casual or dressed up. It is important to me that my pieces can transition from day to evening beautifully.

2. What inspires you?
My mother is French, and I spend every summer in France, visiting my relatives and being immersed in the language, culture, and way of life. I’m inspired by the European lifestyle – everything from the cafes and beaches to their effortlessly chic street style.

I am also inspired by newcomers Derek Lam, Peter Som, and Phillip Lim as well as more established labels such as Balenciaga and Chloe.

3. Article of clothing you couldn’t live without?
I love my True Religion jeans. I would go everywhere in them if I could.

4. Article of clothing you really want?
Designing clothing leaves me wanting great accessories. I really love the City Balenciaga Bag. It’s beautiful and works with my entire collection!

5. Best style advice you ever got?
Stay true to who you are. It’s important not to try to be everything to everyone, but to mean something to someone.

6. If we looked in your closet, what would we find?

I probably have 20 pairs of jeans, a lot of black tops, and, I’m petite, so, of course, stilettos.

Siahou has a trunk show at Handle with Care on August 25th and 26th. Her Fall line will be available there and also at Helen Yi on August 15th.
