Project Runway Season 12 Episode 4 – Tie The Knot: Memorable Quotes From Last Night's Episode

Project_Runway_12_4_pr12-ep4-episode1 Project Runway Season 12 Episode 4 started in a different, more confusing way than most of the shows. It began with drama backstage while the rest of the designers were on stage being critiqued. Sandro was having another of his now infamous break downs, and storms out of the room and onto the street. Then the show went back 36 hours later. The challenge this week involved Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who was also the guest judge, and his organization, Tie the Knot advocates for the rights of gay and lesbian Americans. Proceeds from their signature bow ties benefit organizations fighting for civil rights. The designers were to create designs inspired by and incorporating the organization’s bright, patterned bow ties.

The designers sketched, went to Mood, and got to work. The designs were varied, from Dom’s striped party dress with a variegated bow tie bib to Sandro’s over-the-top, ridiculous pink gown. Is it just me, or did the design and creation process seem shorter this week? Perhaps the producers were making way for the drama that would ensue!

The runway show began, with its inevitable hits and misses. The top designers were Bradon, Dom and Kate. The bottom three designers were Sue, Miranda and Jeremy. Sandro, WHO WAS SAFE, asks the judges for some imput so Zac Posen goes ahead and reams him for his (bad) taste level, and Heidi politely tells him that next time if he is in the top 3 or bottom 3 then they will give him their opinions. Cue to the backstage drama, which involved an argument with the rest of the designers telling Sandro he shows no respect for anyone. Sandro eventually storms out, takes off his mike, knocks down dress forms … and hits a camera! Back to fashion. The judges favorites were Bradon, with those awesome shorts and jacket, and the crop top made out of bow ties; and Kate, whose pants had a cool bow tie-inspired leather strip down the side. Jeremy’s red lace jacket and accompanying black pants looked a little matronly, but were well constructed. It seemed like Sue or Miranda would be out. When the designers left the runway so the judges could take a closer look at the designs, Tim told the judges about Sandro’s melt down. No one knew where Sandro went! And that would remain a mystery. Bradon won the challenge and Sandro was declared “out.” Personally, I’m excited to watch the show without his weekly melt downs!
