Project Runway All Stars, Season 3 Episode 1: You Got Punked! Memorable Quotes From Last Night’s Episode

The third season of Project Runway All Stars starts out with eight designers from past seasons meeting up on the streets of NYC. Everyone is happy to be back as they are greeted by host Alyssa Milano. She informs the contestants that there will be even more competition: Season 3 winner Jeffrey, Season 6 winner Irina, and Season 7 winner Seth Aaron. There will be no immunity and the judges are Isaac Mizrahi and Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman. Senior fashion editor of Marie Claire, Zanna Roberts Rassi, will serve as the mentor. The first challenge involves a huge fashion trend this year – punk. The designers will create their own version of a punk-rock look for the runway and music legend Debbie Harry will be the guest judge. Debbie is back in the recording studio with Blondie and for inspiration, the designers get to listen to their new music before anyone else!

In a twist, there will be no sewing room or workroom at Parsons this week. The designers will be working inside Mood, the famous fabric store, at small workstations. There are no major meltdowns, but drama does go down when some designers scramble to finish on time and tweak their designs to make them look more punk. It’s finally runway time, and Alyssa announces the grand prize. The winning designer will create a capsule collection for QVC, walk the red carpet at a star-studded QVC event, receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine and work as a contributing editor for one year at Marie Claire. The entire prize package is worth over $750,000! Debbie Harry announces she will wear the winning look and the judges are very impressed with the thought and talent that went into the creations! The winners are narrowed down and will either be Jeffrey or Elena… and Debbie announces she will be wearing Elena’s jacket! Congrats! Sadly, someone must go home and it all comes down to Viktor and Ari. Even though both garments were executed well and looked fabulous, they were not really punk. This season will definitely be cutthroat. Both designs would not normally be bad enough for elimination. Ari is sent home, which is slightly shocking because I thought her design was gorgeous.
