I have to give credit where credit is due. Carol pointed out the lace-up trend this fall. I had not noticed women wearing clothes that lace up like sneakers and except for a couple of cute sweaters, this may be a trend I pass on this season. It’s not my personal fave, but you might adore it
The rain. We forgot about the rain! Do you have any rain boots other than Hunter boots? You should. Rain boots have come a long way. You can find pairs that look like biker boots, hiking boots, pointy toe shiny low cut pull-ons and even Valentino Rockstuds!
Last year the “it” sweater was the open and draped cardigan – it could be asymmetrical but it had a flowy effect. Well that was last year. This fall the open cardigan style is oversized and boxy. Picture grabbing that large bulky sweater your grandpa used to wear and you have the idea. We like to call these cardi coats, but they actually hit about mid thigh. We are not talking about the long sweater coats that were so popular in 2002 so don’t get too excited if you kept yours
I am now of the belief you don’t have to spend over $100 on a great pair of jeans. When I look at my massive denim collection I have to admit, some of my favorites are denim under $100. Sure I love my Rag & Bone jeans as much as the next gal, but I also find myself reaching for my Old Navy Rockstar jeans over and over again because they are so damn comfortable and flattering…and you can usually get them for under $40 (Old Navy is always having promotional discounts so wait and pounce like I do). I always get compliments when I wear them and since I am an open book I brag about my discovery
I recently tried on a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood booties with pearls in the heels and I was pleasantly blown away. I never thought of pearls as an embellishment for anything other than jewelry and for the prim and proper. This season pearls are the embellishment of choice.
