Last summer it was all about the off-the-shoulder-trend (and don’t worry, it still is this summer as well), but also consider this year’s close cousin, the one-shoulder top. I think it’s an even sexier option and I want to give you any other choice I can other than the dreaded (and a top I just can’t stand) cold shoulder top. Words can not describe my hatred for the cold shoulder top.
HOW TO PROPERLY WEAR A ONe-Shoulder top
The one-shoulder top is more figure flattering than you might think. First and foremost it’s essential that you have a really good, supportive strapless bra. In fact, if you find one you love buy two (one in nude and one in black). If you find a convertible strapless bra you can attach one strap for no-slip support. You will wear them all summer long with both your off-shoulder and one-shoulder tops.
Another tip is to make sure you find a fit that’s flattering to your figure. If you are curvy your top should not cling and should not be cropped (well not cropped goes without saying if you are over 40). You do not want any skin hanging over (back or arm fat if you get my meaning). Also, if you have an ample chest avoid the one-shoulder tops with asymmetric ruffles across the chest. It will only make you look larger and will not be flattering. Opt for styles that are flat and have no extra fabric.

Feel free to find one-shoulder tops with interesting details like shoulder bows or side ties and wear them with jeans, pants or skirts – basically the same way you would that off-the-shoulder top you wore last summer.
