Each year when I shop this sale, I look for practical fashion, beauty and items for my home that I know will be high quality and useful throughout the year. Here is how to shop as well as my suggestions on what categories to look for including my favorite picks at the sale in 2024. If I like them, you probably will, too. Here are some of the best items at the sale for women over 50.
What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?
If you are not familiar with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, it is their biggest shopping event of the year. This is a fabulous sale all over the entire store. It is a limited-time opportunity to save big on brand-new arrivals, plus all the essentials you will need for the rest of the year and beyond.
Early Access To Anniversary Sale 2024
The sale is open to the public on July 15, 2024, but Early Access to Anniversary Sale is available to all Nordstrom cardmembers. As a Cardmember, you become a part to the Nordy Club and earn points with every purchase at Nordstrom. As soon as you open a card you will earn Influencer status and you can shop the sale early on July 11th. Higher level cardmembers can shop the sale even sooner, as early as July 9th.

You can start a wishlist online and save your favorites (this is what I always do). Then when the sale is open to your level, you can shop these items right away before they sell out. It’s true, a lot of the most sought-after merchandise often sells out, which is why you will want to be a cardmember so you can shop early.
What to Shop For Women Over 50
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale includes everything from summer to fall fashion and is the perfect time to get deals on jeans, coats, jackets, shoes and handbags. It’s also an opportunity to refresh wardrobe staples like T-shirts and underwear, and to stock up on exclusive larger sizes of beauty products, makeup sets and special deals on beauty.

Do you live in jackets? Find bright colored fitted blazers or pick up a black or neutral boyfriend jacket to wear over everything this summer and fall, and then wear under a coat this winter. You may be in the market for a new black leather jacket, or a cropped style to go with high-waisted and wide leg pants. Take advantage of the new styles and greatly discounted priced at the sale.
Jeans, Pants and Skirts
Nordstrom never has a shortage of denim jeans and during the sale is the best time to pick up a pair to update your existing wardrobe. Try a new shade of blue, a new style or a pair of a tried-and-true brand in black. And if you need to refresh your work attire, Nordstrom has trousers and skirts that will make you feel chic, comfortable and professional.
Staples: T-shirts, Nightwear and Underwear
Sometimes it’s hard to focus on the basics during this sale, but if you shop for t-shirts, new sleepwear and underwear you will be glad you did! Check out the prices on these essentials and give your wardrobe a refresh.

Nordstrom started out as a shoe store, and their focus on footwear is still very prominent today. Their shoe department is quite extensive and the sale is the perfect time to get a great deal on shoes. Get that back-to-school feeling with a new pair of shoes in a style you may want to add to your fashion arsenal. Do you need a pair of pumps or comfortable flats, boots or even sneakers? Now is the time to get a pair. Or two.
Handbags
This year I am in need of a new everyday handbag, and I am putting a few of these on my personal wish list. I’m happy to report I saw a few great ones! Even if you don’t need a new bag, you may like to see what is offered at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to stay up to date.
Sweaters and Tops
Cozy cardigans, fun going-out blouses and basic black turtleneck are a welcome addition to your wardrobe for every women over 50. Here are some sweaters and tops at discounted prices you will wear time and time again.
Athleticwear
New atheticwear is always a good incentive to get you to your barre class or the gym. Nordstrom has plenty of options including leggings, joggers, athletic shoes and gym bags. These pieces can work in with your everyday wardrobe, too!
Beauty
Are you a beauty junkie? I’m really not, but I always like to treat myself to a new MAC lipstick, liner and lipgloss set at the Anniversary Sale. There are plenty of beauty sets from your favorite brands, and this sale is a fantastic opportunity to try out something new. Besides that, you can take advantage of the large size lotions, skincare and haircare products that are exclusive to the sale. Nordstrom doesn’t really have a home goods department in the store, but they usually set up a pop up with some special items that are so cool to add to your home. And you can order these online. Many make great gifts, too, but we are talking selfish shopping today. Here are some items that are useful and can give you great joy, simply looking at them.
