Summary: The Monarchy Collection by Eric Kim was undoubtedly beautifully constructed, but haven't I see this someplace before? The words "classy" and "foxy" came to mind, so you know that is coming from somewhere in the past. The women's collection was quite reminiscent of the late 70s and early 80s, which lent an air of retro fun to these classic looks. The white dress that opened the show was a clean and classic design, flattering and simply very pretty. The next look, a teal satin broad shouldered suit had Bianca Jagger a la Studio 54 written all over it. The gold lame tanks and paperbag waists (which are really not very flattering) brought me back to the early 80s. And the high waisted jeans (which I heard is a passing trend) I have to say looked great on the models. Paired with cropped tops and jackets, the high waist kept the look tasteful by avoiding the miles of abdomen you see exposed with low-cut jeans. Eric Kim proves these jeans should not be a passing trend. The neutral spring colors in cottons – white, navy and khaki combined with with bold accents of gold metallic, paired with soft leathers and suedes certainly are a classic way of dressing in a sporty and resort-y way. Nothing was revolutionary here, so you may want to look into your own closet for pieces to complete this look, since it's a good one to embrace!
