Part celebrity fashion show, part awareness event, the Be EcoChic event at the Museum of Natural History was hosted by supermodel Angela Lindvall and Carl Pope, the Executive Director of The Sierra Club (who got a laugh when he mentioned his clothes were actually made from seaweed). Guests were treated to a performance by singer/songwriter Jon McLaughlin and each celebrity model wore a look conceived by a different designer and meant to showcase how "eco-friendly" can also mean "fashion-forward." Environmental activists Chevy Chase and Adrian Grenier were in the audience, and models included TV host Carter Oosterhouse in organic jeans from Levi’s and recycled wool blazer by Sean John, actress Tamara Tunie in a recycled quilted cotton ball gown by b. michael, actress Kelly Bensimon in a vintage Alaia dress (if vintage counts as eco-friendly…!), and supermodel Alek Wek in a recycled raffia jacket from Ralph Rucci.
