My Lunchtime Facelift With Dr. Cohen

What do you typically have for lunch? Well last week instead of eating, I had a “lunchtime facelift” with my new BFF Dr. Brian Cohen. I first visited The Medical Spa of Dr. Cohen in Great Neck back before the holidays for a little Botox “holiday cheer,” but even then I had the sinking feeling I needed more “help”. Thankfully he didn’t agree with me (OK, he probably did, but he spared my feelings at the time). Truth is I don’t know why, but Botox just doesn’t seem to last as long on me as it used to. Have I built a tolerance or do I simply have bad luck? Probably a bit of both. So by February, I was looking a little haggard, more my age and the filler I had a couple of years ago was wearing off. Finally, the thing that disturbs me most (if I am being completely honest- which is usually the case) is the neck sag I have been noticing over the past year. I look at women with tight necks now with pure envy. I HATE it.
So when Dr. Cohen’s office notified me they were now offering a “Lunchtime Facelift” I said “I’m in!” Yes, I didn’t even asked what that entailed. All I knew is that if I could have any improvement to my appearance during a lunch hour, I was in like Flynn!
Now, if you are anything like me, the thought of having an actual facelift turns your stomach. It’s something I may feel the need to do in the foreseeable future (I never say never), but if I can do anything non-surgical to improve my appearance and restore some of my lost youthfulness, I am going to go that route until that road closes.
So what is Lunchtime Facelift you may be wondering? It’s basically a combination of whatever you and Dr. Cohen agree is needed to give you a refreshed and more youthful look over lunchtime (Botox, fillers and skin tightening). That means no downtime. In fact, you can go back to the office and nobody will be the wiser. Luckily, Dr. Cohen is not inclined to make you look like a freak (which is why I like and trust him). He will steer you in a more conservative direction. So together you might decide you need a little Botox in your forehead and around your eyes, some filler like Juvéderm in your nasolabial folds, and some skin tightening to bring it all together.

Dr. Cohen and I together determined I needed Botox (duh) and filler in my cheekbones. I was fixated on the deepish lines around my mouth, but he thought by injecting filler high in my cheeks the lift would also help pull up (and out) those disturbing nasolabial folds. Of course he was right. The beauty of fillers is unlike Botox (which takes at least a week to see full effects) you get instant gratification. My face became more youthful instantly! I was so happy, I didn’t even mind the bumps from the Botox on my forehead (which were gone in a couple of hours). Now, my neck was a different story. Dr. Cohen felt I could benefit from a SkinTyte Skin Firming treatment**. The results from this Infrared laser are not immediate and need to be done several times to see optimal results, but even after one treatment I notice less sag.
Now I admit I am a trooper when it comes to needles (hey, I’ve had two kids), but the pain was minimal. In fact, I left the office feeling like I had been laughing for hours – you know when your cheeks hurt from laughing too hard? Chewing my dinner that evening was a little uncomfortable (but sipping wine was NO problem) and I had to make sure I slept that first night on my back. However, by the next day…I felt back to normal.
And the bonus is…I have had more compliments on how good I look in the past few days. Shhhh. Hey, I’m never going to look 25 again, and that’s OK. But looking 37 wouldn’t be so bad. I could live with that! I am most definitely going back as soon as I can for another skin tightening treatment…and whatever else the good doc suggests. What can I say? I’m usually free for lunch.

The Medical Spa of Brian D. Cohen M.D. in Great Neck, NY
** SkinTyte Skin Firming is a non-ablative and non-painful approach to firming skin. A laser utilizes infrared energy to deeply heat soft tissue while protecting the entire treated area with sapphire contact cooling. This process causes soft tissue coagulation and deep tissue heating that initiates the body’s natural healing process, leading to increased tissue firming.
