This past Tuesday evening I was invited to Michael Aram’s flagship store for a a personal meet-and-greet with the artisan and to explore his first dinnerware collection. During my one-on-one styling session, I was asked to design a table and place setting using the new Michael Aram pieces. The Michael Aram Fine Porcelain Collection is made of the finest Limoges porcelain and features multiple patterns, ideal for mixing and matching without losing coordination. Designed to fit the way people live and entertain, four of the five patterns are microwave and dishwasher safe, too. – incorporating ease and comfort without sacrificing grace and detail. It’s about the casualization of formal and the formalization of casual…which totally resonates with me. Now if you are thinking “why is she talking dishes?” Well, putting together your table is like putting together and outfit. So it makes total sense to me.
In the collection there are three motifs based on popular Michael Aram metal designs: Olive Branch, Botanical Leaf, and Black Orchid. There are also two texture collections: Cast Iron and Silversmith, with a hand-hammered platinum band. Again, all of the pieces are designed to mix and match and integrate perfectly with Michael’s existing array of metal, glass, wood and stone serving and decorative objects.
