Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring '11. Backstage at ADAM

The girl embodied in the Spring '11 ADAM runway show was one of effortless grace and self-confidence. Designer Adam Lippes noted his muse for the collection was Charlotte Gainsbourg's character in the recent film, "The City of Your Final Destination." Lippes said he was moved by the character's self-assured nature and modeled his ideal spring girl after that, one who was no slave to trends yet still appreciated fashion.

To enhance the look of the elegant garments—ranging from linen and cotton to leather and chiffon—Lippes called on key artist for MAC, Romy Soleimani, to come up with an equally fresh and vibrant beauty look. Soleimani said she wanted to create a look that nodded to the 1970's but in a way that was neither overly retro or costumey. She explained she wanted the emphasis to be on the eye, so for the featured color she chose a pale, denim blue cream shadow that was modern and not too dark. She noted the color was akin to a medium wash of a typical 1970's jean. Soleimani decided to keep the models' brows natural and used a mattifying cream to powder base for the face. For cheeks, the MAC cream eyeshadow Derailed was patted onto the cheekbones, temples, and also dabbed on to the lips mixed with a bit of concealer.

But Soleimani wasn't finished with the eyes just yet— after applying alight coat of mascara, she mixed green, black and white MAC Paintsticks with the vibrant colors of Light Brights, the newest MAC Cream Eyeshadow Quad (not available until Spring'11). She dabbed the colors on the top and bottom lash-lines, creating an eye that popped, but in the fresh-faced and subtle way that coincided perfectly with the rest of the dewey look.
