Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week NY Spring '12. Chris Benz is Clashing Colors Cohesively

Summary: Chris Benz has a head full of hot pink hair. So it should be no surprise that for his Spring 2012 collection, every piece is a reflection of that bright and poppy spirit. For his Fall 2011 collection, I had a minor complaint that the colors were a bit drab, so he must have heard my call and decided to amp up the primary brights for the season.
The inspiration for this season’s collection was the image and embodiment of Candy Darling. Even creating the look corresponded with the colors of the collection. Sea foam eyes, tangerine bronzer and vermillion lips created the funky retro look. With all of the different graphic patterns and color combinations, this collection could have easily slipped from chic to overdone clown territory but Benz balances the line well with only pairing two drastic patterns in complementing tones.
Colors: lime green, tangerine, sunny yellow, aqua, sand, poppy red, hot pink, silver, black, white, navy,  light orange, turquoise, grass green, slate gray, khaki, vivid green, ivory, sky blue, fuchsia, brown, army green, baby pink
Fabrics & Textures: cotton, silk, patent leather, jersey, hand-embroidery, velvet
Key Looks: Black and white graphic print shift dress with belt; Colorblock sleeveless tank with ankle-grazing graphic black and white skirt; Flower print blazer with black trim, tribal inspired tank with yellow belt and printed pants
