Summary: Bringing together liquid jersey, tulle and crystals, Jenny Packham's Fall/Winter 2011 collection came across as more of an Oscar statue brought to life with a little bit of a dark side. Gold beading definitely played a major part in the collection. The gowns sparkled in the runway lights, almost seeming to light up the darkened room. Quoting Marlene Dietrich, the women burned up the stage and light drew to them like "moths around a flame".
Many of the sequined dresses seemed light and airy, and as we all know, such a thing is no easy feat. The gowns breezed down the runway and made one dream of summers in a grassy knoll full of sunflowers and lilacs. None of them seemed weighed down and keeping the silhouttes simple allowed for delicate and intricate beadwork.
