Before the show we enjoyed a cocktail hour with light bites (including yummy cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes) and mingling with fellow fashionistas. Next it was time for the show and Mario Tricoci’s Five Finalists Jordan, Lauren, Maggie, Steph and Trevor, walked the runway with real models from Factor Women|Chosen Model Management dressed in Fall 2016 designs by Chicago designers Anna Brown, Laura Delman, The Order, PRSVR and Suki + Solaine. Mario’s “Rockstar Runway” featured classic 70s rock and roll music which made it even more entertaining.

Susanna Homan tells us about the new award in honor of Kaylyn Pryor.
This year Mario, Make Me a Model honored the memory of Mario Tricoci’s 2015 winner, Kaylyn Pryor by recognizing her selfless support of others and joyous approach to life with a special award. A hush of respect went through the audience as Susanna Homan, publisher of SPLASH, told us Kaylyn was senselessly killed in gun violence shortly after winning last year. The Fan Favorite Award was presented to Stephanie Turzinski from Winfield, Illinois.

Before the winner was announced, Mario Tricoci explained to the audience how the competition began. Each year they needed models for his hair salons and they would travel all over the world to find them. So they realized there was beautiful talent right here in Chicago to represent his salons, so why not use one of the locals and make her (or him) a model?
