Macy's Passport Presents Glamorama 2012: The British Invasion
Last Friday night Chicago’s fashion enthusiasts gathered once again for one of the biggest nights in fashion. Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama The British Invasion: The Music Then. The Fashion Now! was held at the Harris Theater and they definitely pulled out all the stops for this year’s show.
During the pre-show gathering we got the chance to get an up close and personal look at some of the Macy’s bigwigs as well as that night’s performers, including the super smoking hot Robin Thicke, “swag-pop” duo, Karmin and YouTube sensations, Megan and Liz. Not one to miss a photo opp, I sneaked in there to get a picture on the red carpet too! Thanks Steve Starr!
After the photo opps, I perused the crowd before the show for some of the best dressed of the night…..I mean the night was all about celebrating fashion, right? Loving some of the bold choices my fellow fashionista’s made, I made sure to get some shots of the crowd. Check out some of my favorites!
The show paid homage to our British cousins across the pond, more specifically, legendary bands The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and gave a little hat tilt to the Olympics over in London (or so I’d like to think!) Also this year, Glamorama worked to raised money to its charity partners, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana and Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
Collections presented included Tommy Hilfiger, Jean Paul Gaultier, Material Girl, bar lll, Sean John, Marc Jacobs Collection, Donna Karan Collection, and Diesel. I must say that the show was completely breathtaking. The clothes were beautiful and beautifully styled. The stage, set, lighting and music were artistic and made for a great and entertaining show. To top it off, the models (especially the guys) where fun and playful and really engaged the audience….oh and may I say, absolutely gorgeous!
Between the runway presentations, we got to enjoy performances by the headliners, which all put out great, high energy performances and got the audiences out of their seats. Karmin absolutely rocked it and Robin Thicke got us all excited with his sultry and sexy voice.
After the show we headed to the outdoor tent for what turned out the be a serious after party. An open bar and delicious food awaited us and it never stopped flowing well into the night. Lancome was on hand for make-up touch ups and photo booths were all over the tent and showcased the patrons’ crazy pictures on a projected screen for all of the crowd to see. I must admit, my favorite part of the after party was the DJ and the dance floor that was somehow just randomly created by all us party-goers who were itching to get down.
Having never attended Glamorama in the past, I’ll be the first to say it was an amazing experience and a great show! I will definitely be back for another round next year. The time and effort put towards the event were evident in all the little details. From what I can tell, Macy’s has a hit with Glamorama and the fashion elite in Chicago will sure to be flocking back for many more years to come.
