Limited-Edition Scents: Greg Lauren For Barneys New York

Greg_Lauren_for_Barneys_New_York_BottleBarneys New York is proud to introduce the second scent in their Designer Fragrance Collection. It’s also the first scent for designer Greg Lauren who worked with perfumer Ralf Schwieger to create the unisex fragrance with notes of tonka beans, vanilla and marine. What makes this fragrance even more special is that the designer has crafted a unique design for each bottle so no two are exactly alike.
Every bottle cap was distressed by Greg Lauren using a hammer, chlorine, sandpaper and a touch of paint. After adhering the ‘Greg Lauren’ label to the front he then hand splashed paint onto each bottle and placed pieces of plain-old masking tape across them with his name hand-written with a Sharpie. While each bottle has the same feel, they are one-of-a-kind-pieces of art, thereby making them collectable.
The scent itself is one of the more intoxicating unisex scents I have ever tried. I normally don’t care for unisex fragrances as I personally find them a little too masculine for my tastes. Yet, while I prefer a clean and light floral, Greg Lauren and Ralf Schwieger have managed to change my mind in this instance. Schwieger, a chemist by training, has collaborated on scents such as Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose, Marc Jacobs Men and Yves St. Laurent Baby Doll so he clearly knows how to appeal to both men and women…and does.
