Celebreality. Is Lauren Conrad's Clothing Line REALLY Selling? Who's Buying?

In a 180 to the previous post’s adoration of the reality star’s clothing line, comes this juicy tidbit from today’s Page Six:

The hype over Lauren Conrad‘s line at Bloomingdale’s appears to have died down. After her appearance at the store last month, Bloomingdale’s vice chairman Frank Doroff told Women’s Wear Daily, "The sell-throughs have been fantastic," calling the cheesy, self-titled line, "the best-selling celebrity line we have."

But a shopper recently browsing the racks at the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship told Page Six, "The racks of Lauren’s line were over stuffed with clothes." A fashion insider confirmed, "Her line is not selling." Conrad is up against Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. line, which has been around five years, and Mary-Kate Olsen’s Elizabeth & James, which has four windows at Bloomingdale’s.

Apparently Kitson in LA "has 12 bins of Lauren Conrad clothing sitting in the warehouse" which the store couldn’t sell "even after a buy-one, get-one-free offer." Conrad’s rep blames the overstock on a complete sell-out of the line and re-ordering of merchandise. Bloomingdale’s had no comment.

Duh.

  1. I love Lauren’s fashion line. I can’t wait to see her fall collection. I just signed up for the contest on hautelook.com where mark cosmetics is giving away two front row seats to her fashion show. I would love to win and get to meet Lauren and go to her fashion show in LA! Do you think they will put this on the show?
