Everyone on our side of the Atlantic has been waiting to see where Princess Kate and her new husband will go on their North American tour. However, we at Second City Style are not that interested in their museum visits or conversations with state leaders. We are eager to see what the royal fashionista will be wearing! That being said, we will be reporting (and salivating) on her every outfit choice and style moment.
The Duchess of Cambridge paid tribute to Canada in both of her looks for the first day by wearing Canadian designs. She left Heathrow airport early Thursday morning in a navy blazer with gold buttons by Smythe, a Canadian label designed by Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe. Underneath, she donned a navy Roland Mouret Manon dress and paired the look with a basic pair of Manolo Blahnik pumps. Her effortless chic look was perfect for a cross-Atlantic flight as was her Mulberry bag, which we assume is where she kept her travel-beauty essentials to do her hair. (Just kidding, her hairdresser, James Pryce is joining the couple on their trip).
Upon landing in Ottawa, Kate changed into Erdem’s Cecile lace dress, designed by the Canadian-born Erdem Moralioglu. She toted the same beige clutch she carried at Wimbledon and finished the look with shoes by LK Bennett. Another classy look for the Duchess of Cambridge.
For her third outfit of the day, she opted for a printed Issa dress; perfect for the low-key barbeque reception they attended.
The duchess has packed 30 outfits for the trip and we are anticipating up to three outfit changes a day. We give her a three for three on her first day but are hoping she will stray from her usual safe but always tasteful ensemble and throw in some surprises. We know she will not be wearing daisy dukes with a bikini top (homage to Katy Perry’s California Girls) but what American designers will she be repping in the Golden State? We can only wait…
