Second City Style had the opportunity to talk to Minka Kelly this morning to find out more about her role as an ambassador for Diet Coke and The Heart Truth. We also got some first-hand information from Minka about what it is like to walk in the show and what she will be wearing. She was warm, down-to-earth and friendly. She also told us how she stays fit and heart-healthy. We found out that lovely Minka certainly follows her own advice!
SCS: How did this come to be that you teamed up with Diet Coke and The Heart Truth?
Minka Kelly: I was glad that Diet Coke approached me, because I felt that The Heart heath is so important because it affects so many women, it is the #1 killer among women. I want to get as many women as possible to upload photos to Twitter or Instagram (with the hashtag) #ShowYourHeart. For every person that signs up Diet Coke will give $1 for Heart Health throughout February, which is American Heart Month.
SCS: What do you do to stay heart healthy?
Minka Kelly:  I always work up a sweat. I workout at least 3 days a week and do things that I enjoy: swimming, yoga, and I just took a class last night with friends in New York. I get bored, so I like to stay active. The endorphins kick in so it feels good to exercise, too!
SCS: Well tell us about what you are wearing tonight? We heard it is an Oscar de la Renta dress.
Minka Kelly: Yes, actually I got lucky to be asked to wear this dress, but actually for this cause I’d wear a potato sack. The dress is a long flowy gown. It is really beautiful. I am not a runway model, so I get nervous!
SCS: But you did this last year, too, right? So you know you can do it again!
Minka Kelly: Yes, I learned from last year that it is hard to walk, and if you get nervous you can slip out of your shoes. So this year I am wearing strappy shoes so I wont fall on the runway!
SCS: So can yo tell us what other projects have you been working on, like the movie The Butler.
Minka Kelly: I just finished that and I am so humbled and honored to work with the others involved in this movie. It is a story about the butler that was with the Kennedy family for many years. I certainly hope I did well by them! It is coming out this year.
SCS: We look forward to seeing you in this movie… at the Heart Truth Collection Fashion Show tonight! We can’t wait to see you.
Here is what you can do this month long for women’s heart health:
