When I stepped outside yesterday, it was unusually warm and mild. The sun touched my face, birds were chirping, the grass was green, and the trees were blooming. I immediately thought, “May flowers.” The weather inspired me to go through my closet—and shop online—for colorful floral fashion. After all, April showers bring May flowers, and wearing bright, springy prints isn’t out of place this time of year. Today, I’ll show you some of the best new floral tops, dresses and sets—and how to wear florals over 50. Of course, you can wear whatever you want, but you may like some spring fashion outfit inspiration.
Florals for Women Over 50
I tend to dress for both the season and the temperature. And with the sun shining and summer just around the corner, let’s bring on the florals! Floral prints are nothing new in spring fashion. In fact, they’re fashion staples. I’ve collected quite a few over the years—OK, decades!
I don’t typically think of myself as a romantic dresser. My wardrobe leans towards edgy, clean design with an abundance of black, white, and neutrals. But surprisingly, when I peek into my closet, it’s in full bloom with pops of floral prints. I adore bright-colored florals and how they contrast with basic black (including leather), crisp white, and classic blue jeans. So even if you don’t consider yourself a floral type or are hesitant to wear flower prints, I hope I inspire you to add a few May flowers to your spring and summer wardrobe.

How to Wear Florals Over 50
Here are some of the best ways to wear florals for women over 50:
A Floral Blouse
A floral top, blouse, or shirt instantly adds a bouquet of color to basics like jeans, skirts, pants, or a suit. Pick up one color from the print for your shoes, and another for your bag for a coordinated look.

Full-On Floral
Go head-to-toe botanical with a floral print dress, jumpsuit, or matching set. The floral print becomes the star here and won’t be missed. Keep your accessories simple—neutrals in leather, straw, or metallics work beautifully for a polished finish.

A Floral Accessory
A floral handbag, belt, scarf, or pair of shoes is a simple way to introduce May flowers into your wardrobe. The print really pops when worn with a monochrome outfit, like an all-black matching top and pants set. I recommend wearing one floral accessory at a time.
