H&M’s Manhattan flagship on Fifth Avenue is being redesigned to look like an art museum. The Swedish retailer is partnering with artist Jeff Koons, who is known for his balloon sculptures. The completion of the flagship on July 17th will coincide with Koons’ retrospective at the Whitney Museum of Art, running June 27th to October 19th. H&M is sponsoring the event and will sell a bag designed by the artist. Featuring a balloon dog, the handbag will retail for $49.95 and will be sold online and in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas. “The partnership with H&M was really exciting for me. The chance to showcase one of my most popular works to a new generation of people was inspiring. H&M delivers great fashion season after season and [it will be] nice to see my work at their new store,” said Koons.
