Has Lucky Run Out Of Luck?

But I ain’t one to gossip, so you didn’t hear that from me. – Bonita Bitrell, In Living Color
According to today’s Page Six, media circles are speculating the days are numbered for Condé Nast’s struggling shopping magazine, Lucky. It would probably come to the surprise of nobody since it’s obvious that a paper magazine dedicated to shopping is rather passe in light of you know…the internet. Also, if you have seen an issue in the past year or so, it gets thinner and thinner.
What would be sad, however, is that talented fairly new Editor-in-Chief Eva Chen would not have even had a year to try to turn the ailing magazine around. Chen was the beauty director at Tenn Vogue for several years before she moved to Lucky. Rumor is, she would go back if/when Lucky fades into the sunset. Of course Condé Nast is denying the rumors, and May’s issue saw a 19% increase in ad pages (which means it might not be transparent)…but where there’s smoke, there is usually fire.
Not as shocking as the demise of Daily Candy, but not the best gossip either.
