Fall '14 Trend: Nouveau Navajo

Originally the Navajo trend didn’t really do it for me, but I have more than warmed up to the idea. Think Santa Fe prints, mixed with a bit of suede fringe and a pair of beat up (looking) cowboy inspired booties and you pretty much have the trend nailed. Once I saw Burberry Prorsum’s hand-painted prints in everything from blanket coats to ponchos, Roberto Cavalli’s geometric patterns and Isabel Marant’s black and white wool dress and skirt, I knew this trend had legs. If you opt for a knit poncho or blanket coat be sure to keep the layers light to avoid looking to bulky. You would be better served wearing leggings, skinny jeans or a fitted pencil skirt than loose boyfriend jeans paired with something thick and bulky on top. Remember your proportions when you style this trend.
