Roberto Cavalli has just announced he's spearheading a new project to extend his namesake label. The designer is planning to launch a made-to-measure service for his clients that request a specifically Cavalli-esque design with its trademark elements of vibrant color and splashy pattern. The new service, called Saint-CavalliHonore, will feature entirely handmade dresses for every occasion from cocktails to weddings, but in extreme limited quantity—no more than 35 will be produced each year. The customizing for clients will take place in a special private space above the designer's Rue Saint Honore store in Paris and prices will begin at around 30,000 euros or $42,000. During a press conference held on Monday, Cavalii's wife Eva clarified speculations that this new service was the beginning of a separate couture line. Its not, she stressed, and explained that the idea for the project came from what the label already does for red-carpet and other prestigious events. This new service will just provide Cavalii's other non-celebrity (but still very rich!) clients with that same level of attention. “Clients who want a special outfit from Cavalli now will know that they can obtain it,” Eva said.
