Last night, the Chicago History Museum had a bit more going than a few exhibits and lectures. The Chicago Fashion Foundation held the 4th Annual "Future of Chicago Fashion" Scholarship Award Benefit hosted by one of last season's fan favorite of Project Runway Peach Carr. The CFF is an local organization dedicated to developing a powerful group of Chicago industry insiders that can educate others and make a fashionable difference in the "Windy City".
Past winners designs also walked the runway
The ensembles were judged by some of Chicago’s fashion contributors and enthusiasts Candace Jordan of Candid Candace, local designer Lara Miller, 24/Chicago’s Catie Keogh and Amanda Monteiro of Georgio Armani. Music from the Ravina Jazz Scholars H.S. helped set the mood for a divine fashion show.
Though the competition was fierce between the nine competitors, the winner Ana Laura Leon of the Illinois Institute of Art, edged out and won the first place prize of a $5,000 scholarship for her design inspired by Chicago’s jazz scene. Other winners include K’lynn Kennedy (International Academy of Design and Technology), who came in 2nd place for her ‘Classical Edge’ design and Rebecca Lopez (Columbia College) who came in 3rd place for her ensemble inspired by The Maxwell Street blues.

Peach Carr and me!
Second City Style got a chance to chat with Peach a bit about life after Project Runway. "It was a great experience and I'm so thankful for it," Peach exclaimed to us. "I say, 'thank you, thank you, thank you' every day!" She was such a little ball of fun. While waiting in line, she asked Carol if one of the models was her daughter. When Carol replied no, Peach followed up with "Well, she could be. You're both beautiful!" Carr also showcased some of the tennis separates from her Spring 2011 collection. Bright stripes and polka dots prints in bold red, blue and orange colors graced the runway, while models in loosely side-swept ponytails carried cute old-school tennis racquets.
All in all, a good night for Chicago fashion!
