Chicago Events: ANTM McKey Sullivan At Water Tower Place In Fashion Lounge

In celebration of the Magnificent Mile Shopping Festival Water Tower Place is hosting In Fashion Lounge from August 24th to September 6th. During this two week period, shoppers will be invited to a lineup of both daytime and evening events on the 7th floor of Water Tower Place. Yesterday evening America’s Next Top Model Cycle 11 winner McKey Sullivan was in the In Fashion Lounge talking about her experiences as a model and answering audience questions. The evening closed with McKey showing off her runway walk and taking pictures with fans. Second City Style sat down with the ANTM and found out even more about her.

Me with McKey Sullivan
SCS: What is the most exciting thing that has happened to you since winning ANTM? MS: Travel and getting to meet different people. I lived in New York for six months, Paris for six months and nine months in Sydney Australia. I learned French and I got engaged! SCS: What was your favorite moment or experience from the show? MS: Winning! Other than that, my favorite photoshoot was the one where we got to shoot on the yacht. We all got sea sick. Also, when we first arrived, we had to run all over the city with luggage trying to figure out where we were going to live. I had on a 60lb backpack. My calves still hurt from that day. SCS: What is the most important /valuable thing that you have learned from being on ANTM? MS: How to present yourself in a way that is ‘you’. A lot of times people just see you as a model wearing clothes so when you meet someone you have to let people see the real you and feel comfortable with you. SCS: Who was your favorite judge? MS: Miss Jay and Paulina. They would stay and talk to us after the show was done taping. One time, Miss Jay stayed to talk to us for an hour after the cameras were done rolling. SCS: What is one question that people don’t ask you that you wish they would? MS: ‘What are the photographers like?’ There are some pretty funny stories. They are the ones behind the scenes so no one gets to really see what they are like. SCS: What is the most rewarding part of doing what you do? MS: Being able to meet young models and give them advice and expertise on the pressures and lifestyle changes that come with this industry. I was fifteen years old going to 21 and up parties and I had no one with me. My parents weren’t there. This event with McKey was a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about modeling! Open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday and holidays from 12:00 pm. to 5:00 p.m during The Magnificent Mile Shopping FestivalTM presented by MasterCard®. – Selicia A.
