Celebrity Style at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival: Kate Beckinsale, Chloe Sevigny, Kerry Washington, Elizabeth Banks
No one wanted to throw on their most stylish snow pants and start shoveling when Winter Storm Jonas came to the East Coast. Can snow wear even be fashionable? Ironically there’s something about the Sundance Film Festival in Utah that makes us all want to wrap ourselves in the most luxurious knits. The A-listers you’re about to see not only know to plan a great winter outfit – whether it’s functional, fashionable, boots or gorgeous outerwear – but they also know how to fight the cold AND look as though they have fun doing it.
Let’s take a look at the best looks from this year’s Sundance.
Knits R’ Us
What would the Sundance Film Festival be without super knits? Here are a few of my favorites:
Dressy Winter Looks
Combining leathers and winter textures are a sure-fire way to make an impact at Sundance. Check out the tweeds, tapered trousers, and knits paired with leather on these leading ladies.
Do dressy winter looks mean leather? At Sundance it does.
Long Coats
Coats always make a statement and what better way to show them off then around Sundance? Whether inside or out, these coats are functional and super stylish. I love how they add oomph to every outfit.
Best Dressed
My favorite looks at Sundance just happen to prove that the sexy/cool black and white trend is back this winter with a vengeance. Add leather, a mix of prints and dark florals and you’ve got yourself some winning combinations on the likes of fashionistas like Natasha Lyonne, Chloe Sevigny, Kate Beckinsale, Lena Dunham, and even Judd Apatow’s daughter Maude Apatow. For me, she was one of the best looks of the entire festival. Maybe I just have a thing for dark florals.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Lena Dunham or her style, and I hesitated to put her on this best dressed list, especially because of those aqua sneakers. Yet I really love the starry sweater and J Brand jeans combination and I do think this is a step up for the experimental actress.
Men’s Fashion
Men’s fashion usually leaves something to be desired and Sundance is no exception but guests like Hugh Jackman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt pulled it out this time around. Also Elijah Wood and Nick Jonas (not pictured.) The biggest surprise (or lack there of) for me is a man by the name of Joe Jonas who suddenly thinks rainbow colored hair, mismatched prints and blue furs (not pictured) mean he’s uber-fashionable. I knew Joe was experimenting with style from his numerous appearances at New York Fashion Week but I didn’t know it had gotten this far. Check him out below!
