Twilight fans everywhere rejoiced when vampire Edward Cullen popped the question to leading lady Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.  Still, the impressive antique engagement ring didn't appear until the third movie.  At that same time, details also came out about the remarkable diamond and engagement ring settings.  According to Instyle.com, Twilight author Stephanie Meyer didn't accept the jewelry until it she went through test samples, research, a prop master and five different jewelers.  She was unhappy with the results and opted to draw the ring up herself. It was then computerized in 3-D by Portland-based jewelry Rick Thurber, who had made other high-end jewelry worn by the Cullen clan in the movie.  It was rushed to the set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse just hours before the scene was filmed.

Meyer describes the bauble as a delicate piece with an oval face "set with slanting rows of glittering round stones."  The fans wait with bated breath for the upcoming Twilight wedding.  At the same time, they wonder if the Robert Pattinson/Kristen Stewart wedding rumors are also true.  Some magazines are even reporting that the Twilight actor gave Stewart her own unique diamond ring.  At this point, lots of evidence has turned up but it hasn't even been revealed that they are dating.  Here's hoping Robert Pattinson gives his Twilight co-star some diamond jewelry to match his on-screen counterpart.

Twilight fans aren't the first ones to go gaga over engagement rings they've seen on screen! Before The Twilight Saga was even a film favorite, high-end fashionistas everywhere were looking to their favorite female Disney characters to make them feel like real-life princesses.  Now they have the chance to hone in on the lush diamond studs created for Aladdin's Jasmine, The Little Mermaid's Ariel, Sleeping Beauty and more.  The custom couture bridal label Kirstie Kelly Couture has revealed a new collection of Disney princess-inspired wedding rings.  The unveiling took place last year at Bridal Week in NYC.

Somehow among her busy schedule of bridal dresses, ready-to-wear, and accessories, Kristie Kelly had time to lay out six Disney-inspired engagement rings with her team.  The line features these six engagement rings and matching wedding bands inspired by Disney princesses that include Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Jasmine from Aladdin, Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and The Beast

While the pieces are not directly taken from the animated feature films, a Disney release about the dazzling diamonds notes that subtle references to the personalities of each princess can be seen throughout the collection.  For example, there are baguettes and clean lines for Ariel which is noteworthy of her individuality and boldness.

The jewels go great with Kelly's new collection of Disney bridal gowns.

The collection has been available since Spring 2010.

So where to draw the line between fantasy and reality when it comes to diamond engagement rings? Perhaps there's no need for a separation.  If it's happening in real life, the modern woman might as well take their dream diamond from the silver screen too.   After all, the wedding day for any woman is supposed to be the happiest day of their life.  It's something out of this world.  Let's hope your next engagement ring and your wedding day is nothing short of a fairy tale.
