It was absolute bliss to attend Borris Powell’s Fall-Winter 2010 Collection at the Millenium Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago last Friday. The show was held in the Crystal Ballroom where guests were greeted by an illuminated runway, classical music, and an ornate golden backdrop.

Shortly after the guest had reached their seats, the designer bounded to the stage and started the show. A refreshing change from a bow at the end of a show, and it felt more personal this way. He started to explain the theme and title, The Rise of an Empress and how it all started with his trip to Rome and the fallen ruins.

Borris went on to state that his line was, “Inspired by Roman royalty, the pieces translate a sense of ancient grace and glamour to the modern women I design for who want to feel beautiful and sexy.”

I thought the whole collection reflected the designer's vision so well and he looked so happy when it was all finished. The audience couldn't help but erupt with joyous applause as Powell took the stage front and center. I just hope after all that hard work, Borris was able grab a few celebratory glasses of bubbly and unwind until the next inspiration comes along!
