A Bill Blass look by former head designer Peter Som
Loyal fans to the Bill Blass label have been waiting with bated breath for the newest collection under the brand's new owner. And now it seems, the waiting will have to go on. After speculations surfaced in March that the new owner of the formerly bankrupt label, Peacock Holdings LLC, was shopping quietly for a creative director, many believed the label would make it back on the runway in time for the September shows of New York's Fashion Week. The news stirred even more anticipation when it was revealed that the position would be filled within a month and that designer Richard Chai, of Marc by Marc Jacobs fame, was the front running contender. Beloved by editors, designers, and retailers alike—Chai seemed a shoe-in to revamp the Bill Blass image and a seamless transition from the label's former designer Peter Som.

But alas, all talk of forward movement for the label has since stopped since no new creative director was ever picked. With September quickly approaching, the reps for Peacock holdings are still keeping mum, though vice president of licensing and sales Scott Patti did offer to the Daily, "We're talking to people, but there's nothing I can divulge. As far as a potential show for Fashion Week? "We're still figuring things out, so we'll keep you updated." Hopefully Richard Chai is willing to wait with the rest of us.
