Paris is a city filled with hidden jewels: the Parc Butte Chaumont, the Richelieu entrance at the Louvre, the Marais on Sundays, and its often forgotten jewelry shops. Although Parisians don’t overly accessorize with bling, don’t overlook the city’s frequently underrated jewelry collections. Paris has a lot more to offer besides Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels in the bijoux business.

Jean Marie Poinot
85, rue Vieille du Temple 75003

I have been up and down rue Vieille du Temple hundreds of times and somehow did not find this shop until last weekend — but what a find it was! Tucked away at number 85, this shoebox boutique is filled with the most amazing plastic accessories in all of Paris. From acrylic neon Eiffel Tower pins (Oops, I’m guilty of purchasing one of these!) to crystal encrusted cut out plastic bangles, you are sure to find something for everyone here. With reasonable prices (even with the exchange rate!) and a great location, don’t miss Jean Marie Poinot.

Marc Deloche
36 rue Jacob, 75006

Located in the heart of St. Germain, this shop offers one-of-a-kind creations… think big statement pieces like chunky silver and enamel necklaces and high relief animal head rings (that’s a bad description, but I have never seen such unique rings before). Reluctant to buy silver in Paris? Don’t be — the designs of Marc Deloche are completely distinctive, innovative, and fun.

Colette
Rue St. Honoré, 75001

I know, I know. It’s so redundant when I write about Colette… but it could possibly be the world’s greatest boutique. Which means it should have the world’s greatest jewelry, right? I certainly think so. I can never manage to sneak a photo inside as there is always a guard lingering over my shoulders, but you’ll have to take my word that this season’s jewels are knock-outs. Check out the Sabina Kasper chunky pearl necklaces and the Swaroski crystal and ribbon bracelets — photos are available online. (P. S. Colette did some summer cleaning and has been redesigned since my last visit in May — the renovation is definitely worth a see!)
