No one loves a beach day more than I do. There is something so luxurious about laying out in the sand, getting a (safe) tan and dipping my feet in the cool water. Though my beach wear of choice is the classic bikini, sometimes displaying modesty over skin can be just as sexy as my swimwear. So, I want to show appreciation to an equally important staple item for your day in the sand and sun. Make sure to pack your cover-up! I found a variety of beach caftans and cover-ups for you to choose.
Women over 40, no matter their body state or shape, should make sure to bring a cover-up when swimming and sunbathing. Not only does it protect the skin from unnecessary sun exposure, it creates a sense of modesty and flowing sophistication. Also, let’s face it, cover-ups are just overall fabulous! This is by no means a new trend, caftans and beach cover-ups have been on the fashion scene for a long time and aren’t going anywhere soon. I think they have made a resurgence as modesty in fashion is getting a louder voice. Showing skin is not always the way to be at your most seductive and sexy. I love that women of a certain age can flaunt their beach wear and still feel confident next to the teenagers and 20-something beach bunnies.
Beach cover-ups and caftans can go as slinky or as full coverage as you want. I know many fair-skinned women who love to stay fully covered when at the pool or beach. Something like this Tory Burch Beach Caftan is the ideal option to keep skin protected and still remain cool and comfortable. I personally love something in the middle; a cover-up that will camouflage my problem mid-section but still show a sliver of skin. That’s why I adore this Tommy Bahama Beach Sweater, which is the perfect mix of both. It’s just the beginning of beach season, so there is still plenty of time to find the right option for you. So before you head to the coast for the summer, head to the shops for some beach wear.
