Today the kids are home from school and many businesses are closed in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We’re taking the day off too! The stores will be open and the end of season sales are still going strong, if not getting better. Enjoy spending time with your family and shopping the sales today!
The weather has been extremely unpredictable so far this winter. One day it’s sub-zero, the next it is raining and the next it is sunny and 40 degrees. Just yesterday the snow was coming down like Slurpees in Chicago. How can you possibly look chic, stylish and stay dry on a day like that? Don’t give up hope because there is a way!
When this holiday season first began back at the beginning of December I noticed a sign along a road selling Christmas trees. It had such a nostalgic look it caused me to pause and reflect. It made be think I did not want this season to rush by too fast. Unfortunately the older we get the faster the season goes. So this year I vowed to try to slow it down and try to take in all the little fun moments of the holiday, the way I did in the past.
Lauren wanted to recycle an old Louis Vuitton bag she had collecting dust in her closet. She had the idea to add a guitar strap, fringe and some fun custom motifs, but admits she is not very artistic. Since I am the crafty artist of the two of us and I have designed in leather before she asked me to “have at it!” and embellish the bag.
I have been noticing and admiring many of the season’s midi-legnth bias cut dresses and skirts and was reminded of some pieces I wore in the 90s. One plus to growing older is going through a second or maybe even a third recycle of a trend. But what era did this style really originate? I did a little research to see if it was the 20s, 30s or 40s but most of what I am seeing (and liking) is inspired by the 30s
