The weather has been extremely unpredictable so far this winter. One day it’s sub-zero, the next it is raining and the next it is sunny and 40 degrees. Just yesterday the snow was coming down like Slurpees in Chicago. How can you possibly look chic, stylish and stay dry on a day like that? Don’t give up hope because there is a way!
Bring out a weatherproof parka, cool-looking boots and leggings with a skirt or sleek pants (all in black) and you are ready to go. (Think Moncler runway model.) This look is not new but what is different are the super-cute parkas (I know it sounds like an oxymoron) available this year. And you don’t have to pay as much as you would for a Moncler coat either. Look for Canada Goose, Mackage. SAM. or The North Face coats. For boots I recommend investing in a pair of timeless Aquatalia boots but you can find inexpensive weatherproof boots as well. Steer clear of fur, big puffy snow boots or Mukluks – to get this look nailed.
Does the look need to be all black? I say yes. I saw many gorgeous colored anoraks but you won’t get the same streamlined look as you will with all black from head-to-toe. You know you will never go wrong with all black.

Wear it with skinny jeans like this pair of black Rag & Bone/JEAN The Plush Legging Jeans, $190 and Aquatalia ‘Giada’ Weatherproof Riding Boots, now $359.98. When the weather is really sloppy and wet you may need these Echo Leather Superfit Tech Gloves, now $31.20. Take advantage of the sales that are on right now for winter coats, boots and to replace the gloves you lost. I loose at least one every year about this time.
I plan on keeping this combo handy next time I hear rain, snow, wind or a wild mix of all three coming down from the sky!
