Summary: The simple wood panel backdrop of the Standard Hotel set the stage for the Nonoo Fall/Winter 2012 collection. Designer Misha Nonoo brought together classic pieces in rich and luxurious fabrics for the upcoming collection.
Influenced by the regal presence and sophistication of cinema legend Anouk Aimee, each ensemble had a classic and elegant feel. The modern heroine had a mysterious beauty that Nonoo captured throughout between the luxurious fabrics and classic silhouettes. Each piece you could see was also inspired by the romantic city of Paris, just by the romanticism of the collection as a whole.
Uniquely rendered prints of hexagonal shapes and tortoise shell were used slightly to create dimension to some of the more basic pieces. Contrasting the emerald green with ink and burnished tan, this combination bought a bit more color to the somewhat darker color palette. Nonoo recently won the Rising Star Award for Women’s Ready-to-Wear and one could see why. Though I think her collection was gorgeous, Nonoo might need to add a bit more pizazz to stand out in a sea of other designer. Her aesthetic was clearly visible but I believe it could have been executed just a bit better to get her point across.
