Once the crisp fall air hits, we start reaching for our turtlenecks, cowlnecks and other high necklines that frame the face and keep us warm. While our old favorites certainly aren’t going anywhere this season, the funnel neck is having a moment.
With more shape and less restriction than a turtleneck (but just as cozy), the funnel neck adds structure and interest to everything from sweaters and dresses to jackets and coats. Here are some of our favorite ways to wear this trend.

Funnel Neck Jackets
A funnel neck jacket just screams fall, and that higher neckline looks especially modern with this season’s boxy, cropped silhouettes. We love this one from Avec Les Filles—it’s a steal at under $150—as well as the City Jacket from Lululemon, which is perfect for casual athleisure looks.

Funnel Neck Sweaters
A funnel neck can make even a simple sweater feel more dramatic. Just check out this cardigan from ASOS. Or, if maximum coziness is what you’re after, try this chunky knit option from Banana Republic.

Funnel Neck Shirts
Want to switch things up? Try a funnel neck button-down like this one from COS. The structured neckline makes enough of a statement that you can skip the extra accessories and embellishments.

Funnel Neck Dresses
We especially love the funnel neck on soft knit dresses for fall. This long-sleeve option from Vince is just about perfect, and incredibly easy to style with boots and an interesting belt.

Funnel Neck Coats
A funnel neck works beautifully on a wool or cashmere coat, as this option from Mango proves. But the look can also give a standard coat a little extra personality. We love this one from Express in classic olive if you prefer neutrals, or blue if you want to add a pop of color to a gray fall day.

Funnel Neck Vests
A high-neck vest may be one of the most useful layering pieces you can pick up right now and wear straight through fall and winter. We’re fans of this vest from Daily Practice at Anthropologie for casual days and this hip-length black version from Loft for a slightly dressier look.
