5 Fall 2026 Fashion Trends Celebrities Are Already Wearing

Fall fashion trends can be tricky. Some look incredible on the runway but make less sense when you’re standing in front of your closet.

This season, however, some of the biggest trends are surprisingly wearable, and celebrities are already showing us how to pull them off. From Anne Hathaway’s rich chocolate brown to Katie Holmes’ slouchy separates, these aren’t trends that require an entirely new wardrobe. They’re updates that can make the pieces you already own feel current again.

Here are five Fall 2026 fashion trends worth watching and the celebrities showing us how to style them right.

Brown Is The New Black

Black isn’t going anywhere, but Fall 2026 has a new favorite neutral: chocolate brown.

Deep espresso, cocoa, tobacco and caramel tones are turning up on everything from coats and trousers to suede bags and shoes. Brown has the versatility of black but feels softer and richer, particularly when it’s paired with fall textures like suede, leather and cashmere.

Anne Hathaway is already on board. The actress has recently worn chocolate brown outerwear, while Martha Stewart has embraced the color as well. Rihanna has taken the trend a step further with head-to-toe chocolate dressing, mixing a fluid brown top and skirt with a substantial brown leather jacket.

The easiest way to wear it? You don’t need to give up black. In fact, one of the freshest combinations this fall is chocolate brown with black — an old fashion “rule” that is very much ready to be broken.

Meet The Ballet Sneaker 

Ballet flats aren’t going anywhere, but this fall they’re getting a sportier update.

Also called a “sneakerina,” the ballet-sneaker hybrid combines the low profile and feminine shape of a ballet flat with sneaker details and, crucially, sneaker comfort.

And this isn’t just a Gen Z microtrend. Julia Roberts, 58, has been spotted in the style, while Nicole Kidman, 59, has also embraced the ballet-sneaker look. The hybrid has become one of the season’s biggest shoe stories precisely because it offers an alternative to both traditional ballet flats and the chunky sneakers that have dominated wardrobes for years.

The trick to wearing sneakerinas over 50:  keep the rest of the outfit relatively unfussy. Think straight jeans and a button-down, fluid trousers and a sweater, or a simple monochromatic outfit. Let the unusual shoe be the interesting part.

Slouchy Separates = New Quiet Luxury

Looking expensive this fall has less to do with logos and more to do with proportion.

Katie Holmes, 47, demonstrated the idea perfectly at New York Fashion Week, pairing an intentionally loose black T-shirt with long, pleated metallic-gray trousers that pooled around her pointed black pumps. Chunky gold hoops finished the outfit.

Nothing was particularly complicated. But the drape of the trousers, oversized proportions and restrained accessories made the entire look feel luxurious.

That is the key to Fall 2026’s slouchy-separates trend. This isn’t about simply buying clothes two sizes too big. The best versions have movement and structure: fluid wide trousers, relaxed knits, silky pants, oversized shirts and softly tailored jackets.

And Holmes has been championing this type of dressing for years. Her wardrobe frequently mixes relaxed pieces with one polished element, a pointed shoe, beautiful bag or strong piece of jewelry, that keeps the outfit from looking sloppy.

For women over 40, it may be one of the season’s easiest trends to adopt because comfort is built into the look.

Fall Jackets Are Taking Shape 

After seasons dominated by oversized blazers, barn jackets and bombers, outerwear is sculptural again. 

The funnel-neck jacket, defined by its high collar that frames or partially covers the neck, had a moment last year and has emerged again as one of Fall 2026’s most distinctive silhouettes. The shape has appeared across designer collections and has already filtered down to Zara, H&M and COS.

It also has some serious celebrity backing. Victoria Beckham and Meghan Markle have both embraced high funnel-neck outerwear, while Rihanna recently paired a chocolate-brown funnel-neck leather jacket with an otherwise fluid tonal outfit.

What makes the trend interesting isn’t only the collar. It’s part of a larger move toward shaped outerwear: high necklines, nipped or adjustable waists, strong shoulders and architectural silhouettes.

After years of throwing an enormous blazer over everything, a jacket that actually creates shape feels surprisingly new.

And you don’t have to wear the collar zipped all the way to your chin. Left partially open, a funnel neck creates an architectural frame around the face without feeling severe.

Millennial Jeans Moment

Before anyone panics: no, you don’t have to resurrect your low-rise 2008 jeggings. But after years of increasingly enormous denim, the pendulum is beginning to swing back.

People magazine wrote that Emma Stone has revived the millenniall jeans trend. She recently stepped out in slim-fit jeans, prompting a fresh round of “are skinny jeans back?” debate. More tellingly for women over 50, Jennifer Aniston, Martha Stewart and Céline Dion have all worn slimmer denim silhouettes this year.

Aniston has particularly made the case for the straight-leg jean: narrower and cleaner than the wide-leg styles that have dominated recent seasons, but nowhere near as clingy as the skinnies of the 2010s.

The Fall 2026 denim shift isn’t necessarily a wholesale return to spray-on skinny jeans. Instead, we’re seeing more straight legs, slim-straight cuts, cigarette jeans and bootcuts alongside the wide and barrel-leg styles that are already in our closets.

In other words, denim is becoming less prescriptive.

If you’ve held onto your straight-leg jeans while fashion insisted everything needed a 28-inch leg opening, congratulations. Your patience may finally be rewarded.
