Every year, I brace myself for the Grammys red carpet the way one might brace for a guitar solo that goes on just a little too long. The Grammy Awards have long been fashion’s wild west, where musical stars often mistake “memorable” for “barely there,” and shock value for style. Skin usually reigns supreme, subtlety rarely gets an invitation, and the phrase “less is more” feels almost rebellious.
But the 2026 Grammy Awards felt different.
2026 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Fashion
This year, some glamour — real glamour — made a return. Yes, there was still some of the costumey, over-the-top theatrics we’ve come to expect from pop royalty, but there was also a refined, cinematic kind of drama. Think Old Hollywood polish with a pop-star edge: sculpted silhouettes, rich fabrics, and confidence that didn’t rely on cutouts alone to make a statement.

The red carpet leaned heavily into black and white — a palette that can easily feel safe but instead felt intentional and striking. There were column gowns worthy of a 1950s screen siren, sharply tailored tuxedo moments, and sweeping trains that nodded to vintage couture while still feeling undeniably 2026.
In a sea of predictable skin-baring looks, the standout stars proved that restraint can be just as powerful — and far more lasting — than shock value.
Black and White

Never one to shy away from being the standout of the night, Lady Gaga looked exquisite in this layered feather gown. And it’s not a meat dress — progress!

It’s pin-up star meets Old Hollywood with some lace thrown in.

She snapped up the Best New Artist award and looked stunning doing it. Can we give it up for those shoes?

Not my favorite look of the evening but I have to say Tate McRae could have done a lot worse.

This Hits Different
Truthfully, the black-and-white ensembles really stole the show, but here are a few other looks — both good and bad — that took our breath away.

I remember seeing her at the Golden Globes and everyone was just complimenting her amazing physique. Now we can all see why! Wow.

Worst Dressed 2026 Grammy Awards Red Carpet Fashion
And of course… what Grammy fashion list would be complete without a worst-dressed roundup?
I guess we have to give a little leeway when it comes to music stars. For example, celebs like Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus are wearing signature looks — and I suppose you could say the same for Chappell Roan. That doesn’t mean I have to like it! This is why I’m always a fan when Lady Gaga opts for over-the-top glamour rather than over-the-top statements, a la 2017.
Anyway, here a few looks that I could have done without.

Everyone was talking about this dress…and I know that’s what she wanted…but really? Just EW!

I get what she was trying to do but I just don’t like it. Also is she a singer or an influencer?

This gown does not fit her at all.

There should be a no sweatsuits rule at the Grammys.
