Now is the time to look forward to spring: lightweight fabrics, bight colors and fresh new fashion. Some of the latest spring trends include mod 60s looks and bold geometric prints. At the Timo Weiland Spring 2013 presentation the recurring use of a huge houndstooth print fabric of yellow and taupe caught my eye. It looked so fresh and modern! The print echoed the 60s and the 80s only this time in a new way.
Houndstooth is one of those classic fabrics that you can find pretty easily on clothing in vintage boutiques. The design is often woven into the fabric or it may be screen printed. Why not make a statement with a piece of vintage houndstooth this spring? The trend was inspired from the past so not only will you be wearing the real deal, but with vintage it is often one-of-a kind. It probably will cost a lot less, too.
Farfetch is a great resource for shopping because they have both new and vintage designer pieces, so you can compare them. You can also go online to eBay to find an entire category of houndstooth which includes designer labels like Carolina Herrera.
Go for the big and bold, like this red and yellow Cristian LaCroix jacket. If you find a houndstooth suit, like this Versace skirt suit, wear only wear one piece at a time. Wear it with basic black, or accessorize it with a bag or shoes in a hot hued color like lime or coral. Mix up your houndstooth with other colorful prints (like Timo Weiland), or keep your look clean and modern and wear it with all black.
Wear a piece in houndstooth this season, even if it is just a scarf! This print, when worn boldly, will add a bit of edge to your spring 2013 wardrobe.
