Top 8 New Spring/Summer '15 Fragrance Picks

New Spring/Summer Fragrances, Top 8 Picks
Finding the perfect summer scent can be a chore. If you are anything like me you want one that’s light, fresh, fruity and/or floral. If it’s is too strong you are not going to like it. So I did a little research and a lot of sniffing and here are my picks (in random order since I can’t pick a favorite and love them all) of the must-have fragrances for spring/summer ’15.
1. Maison Francis Kurkdjian Féminin Pluriel Eau de Parfum, 2.4 oz, $195
This new fragrance from Maison Francis Kurkdjian is a grand floral bouquet that unfolds from Florentine iris to violet, from Grasse rose to Egyptian jasmine, from lily-of-the-valley to orange blossom. It is upheld by the simplicity of chypre accents blending a vetiver note with Indonesian patchouli.
2. Dolce&Gabbana Beauty ‘Floral Drops’ Eau de Toilette, 1.01 oz, $67
I thought last year’s release of Dolce was amazing, but Dolce&Gabbana actually managed to top that scent with their new Dolce Floral Drops. I can’t get enough. This Eau de Toilette is the embodiment of freshly picked white flowers with a heart of White Amaryllis, white daffodil and white water lily. It opens with green Neroli leaves and papaya flowers. The base has just the lightest touch of musk and sandalwood. It is completely irresistible.
3. Dyptyque ‘Florabellio’ Eau de Toilette, 1.7 oz, $90
This new fragrance was inspired by childhood memories of Christiane Gautrot, one of the brand’s founders. The scent is an homage to her summers spent with family enjoying their tiny seaside village in Normandy. So think of contradictions like salty sea spray and sea fennel mixed with fruit like apple blossoms and apricot. Then to totally entice add a little roasted coffee and sesame accents. Yes, you should be confused. This scent is a floral trail, blurring the perspectives between land and sea, flower and fruit, softness and bitterness.
4. Issey Miyake ‘L’Eau d’Issey Summer’ Eau de Toilette (Limited Edition), 3.3 oz, $76
I personally usually find Issey Miyake fragrances anything but light. However, the new L’Eau d’Issey Summer has made me change my mind. Top notes are of grapefruit, cyclamen, freesia, rose water and lychee. The middle notes include lily of the valley, osmanthus, peony, tuberose, white pepper, honeysuckle, guava, passionfruit and pear. The base has a touch of woods, musk and vanilla. It’s beautiful.
5. Henri Bendel Suite 712 Eau De Parfum, 3.4 oz, $98
Henri Bendel literally just released this, their first fragrance…last week and it’s perfect for spring! Inspired by the store’s Fifth Avenue address, this Eau de Parfum elegantly embodies iconic New York’s sophisticated affluence and understated extravagance. It encompasses floral and woody notes of bergamot, mandarin blossom, freesia, sandalwood and suede. It’s really an all-season winner especially if you are like me and still keep it light in the winter.
6. AERIN Beauty ‘Waterlily Sun’ Eau de Parfum, 1.7 oz, $110
Save this one for the warmer days ahead because this is the quintessential summer scent! I am a fan of so many AERIN fragrances, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but this one is a strong contender for summer. Waterlily Sun combines bright Sicilian bergamot and lush dewy greens as its opening notes. Wet waterlily and softly exotic jasmine sambac add layers of depth and intensity, finished with the lightest touch of  sweet inviting musk. I seriously can’t get enough.
7. Tocca Beauty Isabel, 1.7 oz, $68
I am a sucker for roses so this is one of my favorite Tocca fragrances by far. Picture a chic city girl from Barcelona. Isabel is an unconventional yet remarkable beauty – eclectic, unpredictable and captivating. Notes include Spanish rose, Turkish rose petals, guiacwood, amber, vanilla, Mediterranean orange, pear and bergamot.
8. Michael Kors ‘White’ Eau de Parfum, 1.7 oz, $49.97
For those that like a headier fragrance for summer this new scent is worth your consideration. White is always chic, luxurious and in style. Michael Kors has managed to bottle the timeless color in an eau de parfum with a bright burst of tuberose, sweet freesia and musk. The top notes are freesia, ylang-ylang, dewy green notes, violet leaves and aldehydes. His middle notes are Brazilian gardenia, Egyptian jasmine, white peony and tuberose. Base notes are cedarwood, amber, white musk, Tonka bean and of course, vanilla. You could wear this one all year round.
