Pucci Mannequin Exhibit
The Museum of Arts and Design will run their new exhibit Ralph Pucci: Art of the Mannequin from March 30 to August 30. The exhibit will feature 30 years of Pucci mannequins and will spread the displays across the 3,000 square foot second floor of MAD, located at 2 Columbus Circle. Glenn Adamson, director of MAD since fall 2013 said, “Mannequins are like sculpture but not like sculpture. They’re like portraits of us, but not like portraits. They have an uncanny, alluring, quasi-human quality.”
Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style
The Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style exhibit is still open at the SCAD Museum in Savannah. However, a new exhibit is already in the works and will also be curated by André Leon Talley. This time it will be held at de Young Museum in San Francisco and will run from February 27 to May 30, 2016. The new exhibit will be bigger and will consist of over 100 pieces. Along with pieces from his collections the exhibit will dive into the designer’s childhood in the Dominican Republic and early career in Spain.
Chrissie Hynde New Memoir
Female rock-star Chrissie Hynde will launch her own “literary memoir” on September 8. The lead singer of the Pretenders said how readers can expect “a surprise on every page.” Hynde said, “I hope it makes you want to dance, have fun, dig out some old records and maybe even root through your closet and dust off your guitar.”
