Donatella Versace Starring in Givenchy Ads
Donatella Versace will appear in Givenchy’s fall-winter 2015 campaign. Designer Riccardo Tisci made the announcement on Instagram with an image of the two and a caption saying, “So proud and honored to introduce my new ultimate icon.” Tisci also noted the “Givenchy Family Campaign” would be coming soon. Rumored collaborators include Carine Roitfeld and photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Refinery29 Raises Big Bucks
Lifestyle website Refinery29 is evolving beyond its fashion roots and focusing on expanding internationally and increasing video content. The site has raised $50 million from Scripps Networks Interactive and WPP Ventures and now has a total of $80 million in secure investments. Refinery29 publishes about 80 articles daily and garners 25 million unique visitors each month. Social media reach tops 65 million people monthly. Besides fashion and beauty, the site has content on culture, news, politics, food and health and wellness. Sites will launch for the UK and Germany by the end of this year.
Schiaparelli Announces Design Director
After looking for nearly six months, Schiaparelli has hired Bertrand Guyon as its new design director. Guyon is a respected and experienced couture designer currently at Valentino. He previously worked at houses Christian Lacroix and Givenchy and is a graduate of the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. A Schiaparelli spokesperson said Guyon will be responsible for both the couture and high-end ready-to-wear collections. He is set to present his first collection for the fashion house during couture week in July.
