Cotton. It’s Your Favorite for a Reason
Cotton Incorporated Gets Authentic for Latest Ads
Cotton Incorporated is focusing on authenticity in the latest offerings in its 26-year run of the well-known “The Fabric Of Our Lives” campaign. Introducing the tag line “Cotton. It’s Your Favorite for a Reason,” the new ad campaign centers on individual consumers and their personal stories of why cotton apparel items are their favorites. The first commercial will launch on Monday with 15- and 30-second spots. Additional spots will be rolled out over the course of the year.
The campaign also includes a digital video series of consumer stories, some expanding on those told in the commercials, and a special cotton-focused collaboration with online retailer Rue La La and a trade print advertisement.
Ralph Lauren Toasts First Brazilian Store in   São Paulo
Ralph Lauren celebrated the opening of its first Brazilian store in São Paulo earlier this week with a cocktail party hosted by José Auriemo, chairman and chief executive officer of JHSF, which owns Cidade Jardim Mall, and David Lauren, executive vice president of advertising, marketing and communication at Ralph Lauren. Guests were greeted by 26 male models and waiters, with trays of Champagne, flanking the sides of the sisal carpet and complemented by four large urns with palms and multiple colors of cymbidium flowers and ginger. A jazz trio played inside and a saxophone/cello player entertained guests outside.
The 9,100-square-foot store, which officially opened Tuesday, offers Lauren’s women’s wear and men’s wear collection, along with accessories, leather goods, footwear and Ralph Lauren timepieces.
Saks Fifth Avenue Dedicates Windows to Fern Mallis
Saks Fifth Avenue is putting Fern Mallis in the spotlight by dedicating 16 of its streetfront windows — including all of the Fifth Avenue ones — to her new book “Fashion Icons.” Drawing from her “Fashion Icons” conversations at 92Y with the likes of Calvin Klein, Tom Ford, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang and Marc Jacobs, the Rizzoli-published tome will be stacked up in the displays with select mannequins adorned in designer attire from each of her respective subjects.
Expected at Monday’s book signing and party are Klein, von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Norma Kamali, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole, André Leon Talley, Betsey Johnson, Simon Doonan and Bill Cunningham. The event will be the first one to be hosted by Saks’ new president Marc Metrick.
