The Met Previews ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’
Yesterday was the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s press preview for “China: Through the Looking Glass.” The exhibit is housed in the Anna Wintour Costume Center and will run from May 7th through August 16th. Over 130 couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear pieces are on display alongside Chinese costumes, paintings, films, porcelains and other art pieces. Visitors are showed how China has influenced fashion for centuries. Yahoo has signed on as the lead sponsor with additional support by Condé Nast and several generous donors. Silas Chou will be the honorary chair of the Costume Institute Benefit on May 4th. This year’s co-chairs are Marissa Meyer, Wendi Murdoch, Jennifer Lawrence, Gong Li and Anna Wintour.
Giorgio Armani Celebrates With New Bag
Giorgio Armani is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his brand by debuting a new bag. The new accessory will be unveiled at Antonia in Milan on March 1st, and L’Eclaireur in Paris on March 5th, during each city’s fashion week. Called Le Sac 11, the top-handled bag will come in three sizes and features leathers including crocodile and calfskin. The number 11 is symbolic for Armani; it’s the day of his birth and the street number of the company’s headquarters in Milan.
Miu Miu Unveiling Ninth Film
The ninth episode of the collaborative film series Miu Miu Tales will be screened in New York tomorrow before debuting Thursday on miumiu.com. The film features a short by Italian director and screenwriter Alice Rohrwacher titled “De Djess.” Rohrwacher recently won the Cannes Film Festival’s 2014 Grand Prix with her film “The Wonders.”
